Hi, everyone! I just wanted to pop on real quick to announce some exciting news! A few months back, “Modern Romantic Magazine” approached me to write a couple of articles and submit my photography for their summer fairytale-themed issue! “Modern Romantic” is a brand new magazine celebrating all things Romanticism in the modern age as well as beauty, fantasy, and whimsy.
My piece in their Volume 2 issue, entitled, “How the Fairy Got its Wings: The Origins of Fairies in Popular Fairy and Folktales”, delves into the ancient magic, mysteries, and influence of Celtic and Irish legends–as well as Victorian artists–on the evolution of fairies in popular fairy tales and literature.
The magazine’s editors praised “How the Fairy Got its Wings” as an indispensable resource of fairy history for all who love fae lore, and I’m thrilled to share it with you all! Additionally, two of my fairy-house photos are featured on their back cover and the inside flap! If you need some magic in your life, follow me on this breadcrumb trail of fairies and their history (click here for the link to their Vol. 2 summer issue).
Additionally, be sure to check out my interview with artist Ambur Rose of Ambur Rose Designs in the issue, and learn how she launched her career and became a premiere fantasy-jewelry designer whose work has been featured in the “BBC”, “Time Magazine”, and “The Huffington Post”.
Last, here’s a peek behind the photoshoot, if you’d like to see:

Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to check back for more upcoming news as well as updates on my forthcoming fantasy novel, “The Last Wizard of Bretonia”, with my co-author John Bladek. And if you’d like to be alerted of upcoming giveaways and magical news, sign up for my seasonal newsletter at the bottom of this post. (I don’t sell email addresses. No one likes that, especially me, and that’s just evil and punishable by unicorn horn impalement. Truly.)
Thanks so much for reading!
Stay magical,
Davonna
