“Frozen:” The newest fairy-tale retelling in the long, successful line of Disney princess movies. I loved the film and the most magical moment was Elsa’s decoration of her ice castle and the dazzling transformation into her new sparkly, blue ensemble. It totally reminded me of Cinderella’s blue gown revamp right before the ball. Sometimes as a child I would continuously rewind the fairy godmother scene to watch the enchanting metamorphosis. I am a sucker for those makeover scenes and you gotta love the Disney princess’ fashions!
Since it’s still prom season — and because I’m dress obsessed and fairy-tale obsessed — I thought it would be fun to do a “Frozen” prom post based on Elsa’s blue gown. Elsa’s dress is all about sparkles, sheer material, and that subtle cascading ombre effect. Here is a collection of “Frozen” prom dresses that encapsulate those features.
To kick things off, let’s start with the Elsa-ombre effect. I love this dress by Simply Dresses:
And this one from Our Dress:
Next let’s look at some that emphasize sparkles. I love this one by Vera Fashion. Check out that corseted back!
I think Elsa would definitely wear this Sofie House dress with a sheer covering and a pair of sparkly slippers, don’t you? Very pretty.
This gown made by Miralkhan on deviantArt has some lovely but subtle sparkles too:
Designer Abed Mahfouz’s dress, featured on Sandals and Moons, is also a great contender. It’s a little more on the subtle side, but it has shiny details, sheer material, and an Elsa-ombre look to it. You’d more than likely need to wear a slip of some sort with it though. 😉
Moving on, how Elsa is this dress featured on Love it So Much?
This one, also showcased on Love it So Much, is just as fitting:
I love this dress! If Elsa lived in the 1950s, I’m more than convinced she’d wear this vintage, Etsy Lilli Diamond gem. I actually loved this dress so much, I bought it! Wasn’t cheap though, I must say.
Let’s go back a little further in time. Medieval times, to be precise. This renaissance gown sold by Pailes Creations reminded me of something Elsa would rock. Everything from the cut, to the long sleeves, and the iridescent silver details says “Frozen.”
Speaking of renaissance and medieval dresses, Princess Buttercup’s blue dress in “The Princess Bride” also seemed like something Elsa would wear, don’t you think?
If I’m going with my gut though, I’d say this dress featured on Where To Get is the hands down winner for the perfect “Frozen” dress, don’t you agree? (The gown in the background is very pretty as well, but I still say the front one is the best.)
Super beautiful and an absolute must-have for “Frozen” fans.
Welp, that brings us to the end of our “Frozen” prom tour. If you could pick a dress out of this collection, which one would wear? Leave a comment and let me know!
